The book 'The charlie and the chocolate factory' is a comedic and fantastic novel by the british author Roald Dahl. The novel is about a boy called charlie, whose family is very poor and they don't have much money and food to survive.
There is a chocolate factory near charlie's house. It is willy wonka's factory. One day willy wonka invites five children to visit the chocolate factory. The factory is amazing ! In the games, among 5 participants, one child can win special price. Is charlie the winner? Childrens do several mischievious activities and they are punished in different ways. There activities are funny and humerious.
One of the intresting character is charlie because he is smart and kind.
The story was originally inspired by Roald Dahl's experience of the chocolate companies during his school days.

Title : Muna Madan

Author: Laxmi Prasad Devkota

Publisher: Sajha Prakashan, Kathmandu, Nepal

Publish Year: 1936

Subject: Narrative Poetry

Genre: Romance

Pages: 41

Language: Nepal

Is it a darkly passionate tale of love? Or should we call it a highly original gothic story? The classic narrative poetry Muna Madan by Mahakabi Laxmi Prasad Devkota is, in my opinion, a unique and gripping blend of these genres. Written in 1936, it is a folk epic novel full of desire, lovepassion, humanity and regret, focusing on the main characters of Muna and Madan.

The book describes the life of a man (Madan) who leaves his wife (Muna) and goes to Lhasa to make money. Madan represents all the youths of Nepal who go abroad to earn money to earn their living.

The wife of Madan, Muna is the queen of love and sacrifice. She loves her Madan a lot so she is upset as she has to send him to a place, Lahsa, where there are lots of obstacles and risks. But finally, she accepts this challenge and stays in the country with her mother-in-law who is old and weak.

While returning home, Madan becomes sick on the way. His friends leave him on the road and come back home saying he has died. Finally, he is rescued by a man who is considered to be of lower caste in Nepal. That is why it is said that a man is said to be great not by caste or race but by a heart full of love and humanity.

When Madan returns to Kathmandu after regaining his health, he discovers that his mother and his beloved wife had already died. Madan comes to realize that money is of no value at that point.

The story also shows the life of a poor woman who suffered much without her husband and later dies because of grief. In this poem, Devkota has written about the biggest problems of the then Nepalese society.

Through the story of Muna and Madan, Laxmi Prasad Devkota wants to stabilize the facts of traditional societies, unscientific beliefs and the negative impacts of unemployment and poverty in Nepalese society. The poet has wonderfully defined love by writing about the relationship of Muna and Madan.

Muna Madan is not what I would call an 'easy read'. There is dense description and some of the dialogue is written in dialect, which can be difficult to follow.

Nevertheless, I carried on and, all in all, I can highly recommend Muna MadanI challenge you to remain unmoved after reading this exceptional book.

Genre:Fiction\ Mythology

Language: English

No. Of Pages: 215

Price: Rs 295/-

Publisher: Om Books International

Format: Paperback

Mythology Fictions have always been one of my favourite genre to read. The book's name is The Ramayana Secret and as the title suggests, it definitely fits perfect into the category.

Starting with the book cover, it looked pretty average to me, nothing too intriguing. I seriously think that something more could have been added to it, to make it look more magical and inviting.

That being said about the first impression of the book cover, the first few pages of the book made me fall in love with the story immediately. Obviously it is a story about Lord Ram and our very own oldest Indian tale Ramayana. But the author has told the story of Ramayana, from all together different angle.
All the characters are definitely picked up from the Ramayana story we have always heard, but the plot build up is very unique and innovative. There are lots of twists and turns in the story. There are many surprises for the readers because since it is Ramayana, we tend to expect somethings as we have always heard. So, that makes the whole reading experience very interesting.

liked the concept of the inner and outer earth. How Ram belonged to a different world and was sent on a secret mission with a cover up identity and a plan. Why Sita was kidnapped by the Lankan King Ravana is also quite interesting. The book covers a whole story about how Ravana overtook Lanka and became its king. Why is he so powerful!! Was Sita a sole purpose of the war between Rama and Ravana.....

The first half of the book is very fast and every page brings something new, while the second half of the book is comparatively slower.
The book depicts the Family Tree of Kosala, Videha and Anga Kingdoms and Family tree of Lankans in the form of flowchart in the beginning of the book.

I would highly recommend this book to all the fiction lovers since the plot is very imaginative and interesting.  I loved reading it and look forward more from the author.

                       Database Management System

Introduction

Data and database technology are having a major impact on growing use of the computers. The database plays a critical role in the almost a ll areas where computers are used in education, business, engineering, law, medicines and science and technology .

A database management system (DBMS) is a collection of programs that enables users to create and maintain a database. The objective of DBMS is to provide a convenient and effective method for defining, storing, or constructing, and retriving or manipulating databases for various applications.

Block diagram showing DBMS, database, and their connection.

Use of DBMS:

* Storing data.

*Accessing data when it is required.

*Updating/modifying data.

*Deleting or removing data.

*Reducing data redundancy.

Terms in DBMS:

Data: Data is a raw fact or figure which do not have meaningful fact.Data can be manipulated to produce output.Data are the raw facts from which we start to get information. Example:1,Ram,Kathamndu.

Database: It is the systematic collection of data. It is a computer-file system that uses a particular file organization to facilitate rapid updating of individuals records, simulaneous updating of related records, easy access to all records , by all application programs. Example: Banking record of the customers, result sheet payroll sheet and product record of the shopping center.

Information: It is the processed data i.e. organized data.

Database Management System: It is a software packaged used to design, manipulate, define , retrive , delete , modify database in records.

Differents software of DBMS: oracle and Mysql are presently used widely.

Advantages & disadvantages of DBMS:

Some of the advantages are given below:

* Data sharing : Data stored in database can be shared. It can be shared among the several different users or concurrent access by different users.

*Reduce data redundancy: In traditional file processing, the same data may be duplicated at any times or places, is called data reduncncy. A DBMS reduces the duplication of the data from a database.

*Integrity can be maintained: Integrity ensures that the data stored in a database is correct or accurate.

*Providing backup & recovery: A DBMS must provide facilities for recovering from hardware and software failures.

*Security can be improved: In DBMS, certain restriction can be applied for security by giving different authority to different users.

Disadvantages of DBMS:

*It is complex to understand and implement .

*Only trained and skilled staff can work properly in database system.

*Initial investment is high for implementing hardware, software and training.

* When some fault occures in one part of the database, it affects the other parts as well.

Types of DBMS

The types of DBMS based on data model are as follows −

  • * Relational database.

  • *Object oriented database.

  • * Hierarchical database.

  • * Network database.

Relation Database

A relational database management system (RDBMS) is a system where data is organized in two-dimensional tables using rows and columns.

This is one of the most popular data models which is used in industries. It is based on SQL.

Every table in a database has a key field which uniquely identifies each record.

This type of system is the most widely used DBMS.

Relational database management system software is available for personal computers, workstation and large mainframe systems.

For example − Oracle Database, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server etc.

Std ID
Name
City
201
Ram
Damak
204
Lucky
KTM
205
Shyam
Morang

In the above student table Std ID, Name and city are called as attributes and their values. Std ID is a primary key attribute which uniquely identifies each record in the student table.

Object Oriented Database

It is a system where information or data is represented in the form of objects which is used in object-oriented programming.

  • * It is a combination of relational database concepts and object-oriented principles.

  • Relational database concepts are concurrency control, transactions, etc.

  • * OOPs principles are data encapsulation, inheritance, and polymorphism.

  • * It requires less code and is easy to maintain.

For example − Object DB software.

The object oriented database is represented in diagram format below :

Hierarchical Database

It is a system where the data elements have a one to many relationship (1: N). Here data is organized like a tree which is similar to a folder structure in your computer system.

  • The hierarchy starts from the root node, connecting all the child nodes to the parent node.

  • It is used in industry on mainframe platforms.

For example− IMS(IBM), Windows registry (Microsoft).

An example of a hierarchical database is given below −

Network database

A Network database management system is a system where the data elements maintain one to one relationship (1: 1) or many to many relationship (N: N).

It also has a hierarchical structure, but the data is organized like a graph and it is allowed to have more than one parent for one child record.

Example

Teachers can teach in multiple departments. This is shown below −
